Dillingham Elementary School Youth Activities

Cub Scouts - We will be meeting after school on Mondays, starting December 7th, at the same time as the other Cub Scout troops. If you are interested in Cub Scouts, please attend this meeting so that we can discuss issues pertinent to both youth and parent involvement. I've been informed by the Rural areas Boy Scout Director, Jay Gould, that Sharon Clovett, a teacher at the elementary school is going to be leading Cub Scouts for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Sharon Clovett, the Boy Scout leader, can be reached at 842-3715. I have been in contact with her and she is amenable to me using their training materials to get training in being a Den Leader. If there are a lot of youth interested, we will be needing more parent volunteers. If the age differences of the boys pose challenges, we may separate the two groups, but so far it has been working out.

Because we are in rural Alaska, there is some flexibility in terms of age limits. Kids can start as early as kingergarten, as long as they are 6 years old or older. If you are interested in Cub Scouts for your little boy, just let me know. We are required to have parents participate with their child - it is a rule of the Boy Scouts.

I will make every attempt to contact you in a timely manner. Our little boys need activities too!
